That time of year is upon again, its Masters week and that iconic music plays on repeat in your head as we await Golfs first Major of 2024! Unlike other Major Golf tournaments, The Masters is played at the same course each year in Augusta, Georgia. Augusta National is renowned for its well-maintained impeccable appearance: pine needles are imported, bird sounds are played on inconspicuous speakers, and even the ponds were once dyed blue. The club is famed for its azaleas and dogwoods. As usual, we have a fascinating betting heat for the first major of the year. Scottie Scheffler has been in scintillating form. So much so that one of traders in the office said he was closing in on peak Tiger days, where he would go off 6/5 for Majors! This was obviously a little hasty, but Scottie is ultra consistent and fully deserves to be red hot favourite here (5.6 with 3ET Sportsbook). I personally wouldn’t like to be laying him!

We have a barrage of stats to sift through for this tournament but 3 of them stand out to us. Firstly, the last 12 Champions all gained at least 18 strokes tee to green in their final 5 events leading into the Masters. Secondly, 9 of the last 10 Masters winners posted at least a top 6 in a major in one of the previous two seasons. Finally, just 3 players have won the Masters having finished outside the Top 40 the previous year. Only 1 Masters rookie has ever won the event! Its obvious that course form is imperative to finding the winner here. To make a long story short, we are looking for a player who has experience and course form at Augusta National, whose stats are showing up well in the last couple of months and who has competed for a Major within the past 2 seasons. Obviously, there can always be statistical anomalies (Danny Willet anyone?!) but we like to target these trends to give us some value. The first of our picks is Cameron Young. Young finished a respectable T7 at this event last year whilst also posting a T8 at the Open Championship showcasing some good Major form. He is teeing it up here after a 2nd place finish at the Valspar a couple of weeks back. 55.0 with 3ET Sportsbook seems fair to us. Another player of interest for us is Cameron Smith. He has been quietly playing well on the LIV Golf Tour and his Masters record speaks for itself with a T2, T10, T3 & T34 in the past 5 years. He is attractively priced at 43.0 with 3et Sportsbook and will be our second selection.

Selections:

Cameron Smith @ 43.0  Cameron Young @ 55.0
