Last year only 8 players in the field had a Masters invite. This year this number has over doubled, and we will see top players like Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa teeing it up.
In terms of preparation for The Master’s The Oaks TPC, designed by Greg Norman doesn’t particularly fit the bill but is nonetheless good practice for the players ahead of the first Major of the season.
My pick for the tournament is Matthew Fitzpatrick. His last event, The Players Championship saw him finish in 5th place after shooting all 4 rounds in the 60s including birdies on the last 4 holes. After a 2-week break, he returns to action at Texas in fine form. His putting has been his strength so far this year with 0.326 shots gained.
His season so far has been mixed but it looks like he is finally hitting form and is excellent value this week.
