The PGA Tour heads to San Diego this week as part of the ongoing "West Coast Swing". Initially, this tournament was known as the San Diego Open, which remained the case from 1952 to 1981. Farmers Insurance came on board in 2010 and has remained the main sponsor ever since.

The tournament is now played at the famous Torrey Pines resort, a 36-hole public facility owned by the City of San Diego. The first couple of days are split between the North & South course. The final two are being played on the South Course only. It's an early Wednesday start this week to avoid a clash with the big NFL playoffs this Sunday.

Four Californians dominate the betting this week. Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, and Max Homa are all vying for favouritism. Homa is the defending champion after defeating Keegan Bradley by two strokes here last year. He will be motivated to retain his title, and we can see him turning in another big effort this week. We think his price is on the skinny side and will look elsewhere for value.

One that does stand out is Jason Day (29.0). Day is a two-time winner of the event and a bit of a Torrey Pines specialist. He has seen a resurgence in form recently with a Top 10 finish at the Sentry, followed up with an 18 under par to finish T35 at the American Express. Day can still send it out there off the tee, which will be a huge advantage this week on a course measuring almost 7,800 yards. We hope he can build on a positive 2023 Season with a win in the Byron Nelson & a runner-up in The Open.

Selection: Jason Day @ 27.0 (3ET Sportsbook)
