Saturday 24th August

Brighton vs Manchester United

Both teams started off their seasons with a win, Brighton trouncing Everton 3-0 away at Goodison Park, while Man U stumbled to a 1-0 home win against Fulham. The Seagulls will not fear the visiting side, who they have beaten in four of their last five league encounters. If their opening day performance is anything to go by, the Brighton fans have an exciting season in store under their young manager, Fabian Hurzeler. Man Utd looked very rusty on the opening night and their players look to be full of fear when they take to the field. I can see a fluid Brighton ripping them apart.

Prediction – Brighton  0 / -0.5 @2.16

Spurs vs Everton

Both sides will be looking for a positive result here after a slow start last week. Ange Postecoglou's side were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium on Monday where they dominated possession but could not convert their chances. Some tricky fixtures are on the horizon so this is a must win for the home side. Everton suffered a damaging opening defeat at Goodison Park as they were beaten 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion, with Ashley Young sent off in the second half of a miserable match for Sean Dyche's side. Everton have won just one of their last 23 Premier League games against Tottenham (D11 L11) and for a club with massive off field issues, this season feels like a uphill struggle already.

Prediction – Spurs -1.5 @ 2.19

Aston Villa vs Arsenal

Both sides have three points on the board after one outing, as Villa edged out West Ham United 2-1

on the opening weekend, while Mikel Arteta's team put two unanswered goals past Wolverhampton Wanderers. Unai Emery did the double over his old team last season, firstly edging a narrow win at Villa Park as the visitors missed chance after chance before two late goals at the Emirates in the final weeks of the campaign put a huge dent in the Gunners title charge. Emery knows how to subdue any opposition attacking threat and I think that goals will be at a premium in a cagy affair.

Prediction – Under 2.5 @ 2.17

Wolves vs Chelsea

Wolves put it up to Arsenal for large parts of the opening game but ultimately lacked that bit of quality to come away with any points. Their squad is much weaker than last season and a struggle will be on the cards until May. Chelsea are a bit of a sideshow at the moment with a lot of focus on their transfer dealings. A hugely bloated squad needs to be trimmed before they can start achieving on the pitch. They were comfortably beaten 2-0 at Stamford bridge by the champions last weekend, they enter calmer waters here.

Prediction – Chelsea -1.0 @ 2.34
