Hero World Golf Challenge 2023
The Hero World Golf Challenge is a tournament hosted by Tiger Woods that features a group of 20
top-ranked Golf professionals. It is a benefit for the Tiger Woods Foundation, which aims to create
and support community-based programs that improve the health, education, and welfare of all
children in America. It is a part of the PGA schedule but does not offer any Fed Ex Cup points.
Norway's Viktor Hovland is chasing three consecutive wins and is priced at 5.5 currently on 3ET, quite a
few of these players have not played a lot of competitive Golf recently and this includes second
favourite Scottie Scheffler, who is 6.0 with 3ET. The American has not played a 72-hole Tournament
since the Tour Championship but is looking to improve upon two second-placed finishes in the past 2
years.
This event takes place at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas. This Ernie Els designed course features a
links style layout, and the winning score in 2022 was -16. One of the key stats around this track in the
past has been Strokes Gained, and this approach makes sense, with some excellent iron players
having won it previously. Hovland, Jon Rahm & Hideki Matsuyama to name a few. Unsurprisingly
Scheffler led the PGA Tour Strokes Gained: Approach for 22/23 with an average of 1.194.
The course is quite forgiving, with relatively large fairways, and the five Par 5s on the card can give
up a lot of birdies. Keeping this in mind, it may be important to focus on Driving Distance and Par 5
Scoring stats to point us to the winner. An interesting contender this week could be Cameron Young
who measured 7th on Average Driving Distance on the Tour last year and was fifth in Par 5 birdies or
better with an impressive 54.48%.
We’re happy to take two against the field here in the form of Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young.
Recommended Bets:
Scottie Scheffler @ 6.0
Cameron Young @ 21.0
